This is my story
I controlled my weight by low fat eating and excercise for over 25 years. Then my life changed- my husband was made redundant and his new job was over 200 miles away in Wales. We uprooted and moved to a mountain village outside Cardiff. Life settled down and I got a job. However this job wasn't active like my previous ones it was on my backside. I still went to a gym but not as much but not as much. I used to run for hours before but now i was tired all the time and having neck and arm pain.

I was diagnosed with a degenerative cervical spine disease which cannot be operated on. I eat hands full of pain killers a day and neuro transmitter suppressants. I have also been hit by the dreaded menopause and all I want to do is sleep.

I am also nursing my sick mother in law who moved in with us last year. I'm afraid upon her arrival I truly hit the chocolate! Life is difficult in many ways.

I have gone up from 10st 2 to 15st 6. I feel very uncomfortable, sweaty, breathless and I don't recognise myself. I am now booked in to have a band fitted in just over a week and I'm praying that it will work for me. I cannot do the type of excercise that I once did but I hope that what I can do will be enough to shift the pounds.
