This is my story
My father was in the army so I've travelled all my life; born in Hong Kong (went back there four times) and then when we finally came back to England I was hankering for pastures new. At 26 I went live and work in Saudi Arabia and stayed there for a total of fifteen years - fabulous people, fabulous time. In 1997 I met Grant and we married in 1999; I'd already started putting on weight and from a very trim size 12/14 I'd gone up to a 16/18. As I'm tall everyone said "you can carry it". It didn't feel like that to me; and I carried on eating! In 2002 at the grand old age of 45 I gave birth via caesarian section to a little boy (Alex - the light of my life!). He's now six and into everything and I've carried on eating and sitting around and have ballooned to my current weight of 21stones. I can't run, I can't keep up with him; Alex loves me; Grant loves me, but we all want there to be less of me! I'm booked into the Spire Murrayfield in Edinburgh to undergo gastric banding surgery on 19 September 2008 all being well with my blood tests etc, and I'm really excited, but also slightly anxious about the anaesthetic. I would love to hear from anyone who's already had the surgery and gone through the post-op liquid thing!
