This is my story
Well I go into Suthampton Bupa on Thursday 11th January 2007 for a gastric band. I know it sounds weird but I am very excited about the prospect of going under the knife. My friend is coming with me and also having a lap band fitted (safety in numbers). My BMI is just on the lowest border of being able to have this op (35). Having gone from the cambridge diet to slimming world and WW etc I am fed up fighting the flab through will power alone.
Heres to a successful op
My first week post Op
Went into theatre at around 12pm Thursday 11th Jan 07. Back in my rm 2.30. Felt a little sick in recovery but not real pain. They got me out of bed about 4 a bit sore and I was tired but am sitting in the chair ok. Tried to get to the toilet but I can not wee. Got back into bed to sleep about 8. Called the nurses in around midnight can not breathe and the pain is awful they catherterise me.
Friday, get catheter out but I am not allowed to go home as can not wee, get blood test done which shows my HB has gone down to 8.9 they give me iron tablets. I start getting a headache.
Saturday I awake with the most awful headache they discharge me at 1pm my friend picks me up and drives me home I feel awful.
Sunday - awake with even worse headache, call nhs direct and go to casualty at 9am. Have blood test this time HB 7.5, they put me on morphine for 24 hours and keep me on observation ward (This was awful).
Monday 1400 admitted to ward and given blood transfusion as port site is bleeding internally, they want to do a biopsy on the arteries in my head for the headache.
Tuesday pm discharged from hospital biopsy tomorrow.
Wednesday had biopsy under local and get water infection s they admit me again and put me on a drip.
