Mike has always been a passionate outdoors man, and his greatest passion is cooking game and wild food generally. A love of fly-fishing introduced him to the depredations of the signal crayfish, and the damage they are doing to the riverine environment. Having made a programme about this subject for UKTV Food, Mike decided that this valuable commodity ought to be harvested.

Mike Robinson Wild Foods was born in Spring 2004. The company is now supplying crayfish to many of the top London restaurants and hotels and is taking on new customers every week. At the moment it is mostly a family business with his wife Katie as the mainstay, his cousin Tom as chief trapper, Mike's Dad, Alan, as computer whiz, back-up trapper, and general all-round help and Mike's Mum, Gilly, steps in with some much needed extra help on packing days. What does Mike do.....er, well he gives them lots of encouragement!!
